DESCRIPTION: Structure is the repetition of an element... Silkscreen prints hand drawn, cut and screened by Holly Alderman, studio in Harvard  Square, commissioned by Harvard for exhibitions at the Design Science Studio in the Carpenter Center designed by Corbusier.  

Limited editions of 10, fine giclee on archival art paper, signed by artist, numbered, dated, COA. Alderman's symmetry prints collection embody each and all the possible patterns in two dimensions, in shapes, in mirror lines, repetitions and glide lines and around rotocenters, and variations. Fine art giclee reproductions on archival papers in limited editions, are scanned from hand made silkscreen originals on Strathmore rag paper made for exhibition at the Design Science Studio at Carpenter Center for Visual Arts (from 1983 to 2002) at Harvard College next to the Harvard Art Museum (formerly the Fogg). 

SOURCE: Commissioned for exhibition from 1983 to 2002 at Harvard College next to the Harvard Art Museum (formerly the Fogg), high on walls in the studio for Synergetics, The Structure of Ordered Space, by lecturer Arthur Loeb in the Department of Art, Film and  Studies. In 2003, the Loeb Design Science Collection was acquired by the RISD Nature Collection which shows many prints in the collection online.

Drawn in pencil, cut in exacto blades, adhered to silk screens and printed in oil based ink Alderman's Harvard Square studio on Sacramento Street, Cambridge. White background prints were commissioned by design scientist Arthur Loeb for the Design Science Studio teaching collection. Colorful posterboard backgrounds added by Alderman for expression experiments as her own studio collection. Some reflect illustrations in Space Structures, Their Harmony and Counterpoint by Loeb.
